For those of you/us, that still drive thru Penfield... how is it that the building where the Village Inn was in (and after that Ozzie's?) in the Four Corners has remained vacant all these years....? I get the parking issue and the fact that Penfield Road is a busy street, but to have that building empty for 10's of years? Anyone know the history/story?

Somewhere along the years I'd heard that the buildings foundation was unstable and too cost prohibitive to repair, that a lot of the old timbers that held the building up were unstable. Humphrey House had similar issues when a water pipe burst and the old huge tree timbers that were the supports in the basement swelled up and caused some buckling. It's amazing when you think about how old these buildings are... that their very foundations were actually dependent on huge sections of old trimmed trees that would be easily 100+ years old now!

...I guess that's all she wrote.
