I was singing (er, belting out?) "Ramblin' Man" (Almond Brothers Band) at the top of my lungs every time it came on the radio in my ever so groovy 65 white Dodge station wagon, lol!

And "Freebird" was my first audio taste of Leonard Skynard. I still love that song.

Lynne, I had a not so groovy 1967 Ford Country Squire station wagon with the wood trim on the sides. But it got me and my friends around so can't complain.

How many of the groups did you see live if any? I saw the Edgar Winter Group a couple of times, Three Dog Night like three times back then and Elton John before he was famous. He warmed up for Three Dog Night. Saw others as well but not on this list.

John, you know what? I was just never into crowds or concerts.

My first concert was (...now don't laugh!!!) The Monkees when they played at the War Memorial in '67.

The next one wasn't until the Watkins Glen concert, and I never got remotely close to the actual stage that whole rainy weekend. But we could hear the sound and music just fine where we were camped. In fact, it was on the way out of the glenn that my groovy white 65 Dodge station wagon got side swiped by an ambulance. The first and only dent it ever got under my care.

Other than that, the only "concerts" I've attended have been the ones at Party at the Park or venues like the Penfield and Fairport amphitheater.

Really? Tie a Yellow Ribbon - Number 1? I could've lived without that one! With you Lynne, on Freebird for sure - still one of my faves too. Anita Low and I saw Lynard Skynyrd in Paris in 1976 and of course he sang it! Good concert!

You were at Watkins Glen, Lynne? My husband, Joe, was, too, and got as drenched as you probably. He abandoned his broken down car and walked the rest of the way. We were recently at the Big House in Macon, GA and when I pointed out the Watkins Glen concert poster I thought the people close by were going bow to Joe! 😂😂 A million questions later we were able to tour the house!
We were all very lucky to be in Rochester and have the opportunity to see great groups!
All time memorable concert was seeing Barry Keiner playing with Buddy Rich band at Potsdam State. Seeing Bonnie Rait with a small group of fans (1975?) at Clarkson College. 🙌
Or Ronnie Earle at a small park in Norwood, NY. And now hearing terrific music in small venues in Nashville. Great times!

Hi Catherine! (Thanks for registering!)

I was there, for the whole weekend, tho it seems like a lot of it was spent trying to get in, and then trying to get out! And then trying to stay dry.

I still have the old newspaper articles that covered the concert, I've posted them on my FB page somewhere, maybe in the notes? Maybe since that was a '73 happening event I should include those images on here, we could start a "1973 notable events" thingie or something like that.

Thoughts?
