If you are posting a new topic and want to be notified by email when there are replies / comments on it, simply check the "Notify me of replies" box in the options above the Preview and Submit buttons.
If after sometime after turning on the check box you no longer want to get notifications, simply return to your post topic, choose to edit it and uncheck the box.
